This is one of my favorite Tunnelbana (Stockholm’s subway system) stations because of all the lines and the gradients. The Tunnelbana is the world’s longest art museums because over 150 artists decorated the system.

In Stockholm, we walked around aimlessly to find this free music festival that our AirBnB host told us to check out. We eventually found it after asking locals and then following the music to a suburban park.

The only shoes I’ll be wearing during my Europe Backpacking trip for 6 weeks

Three weeks into my Europe Backpacking Trip…

I always thought that backpacking trips were never a realistic way for me to travel. Let’s just be real - I’m too damn materialistic to bring less than a week’s worth of clothes. I have trouble just deciding what 3 pairs of shoes I should bring for a weekend home(where I have more shoes) in San Jose. Trust me when I say that I never thought I would ever be here. Clothing is one minute detail compared to the will power and courage to just go out there and just.. do it.

So far I’ve been to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Frankfurt, and now I am in Paris. These are easily known as expensive cities but my backpacking buddy, Wynn, and I have  made it work. So far on flights, transportation, food, AirBnB reservations and other expenses we’ve totaled to around $2500 USD. Our goal is to be under $3500, max $4000 for 6 weeks.

I know, money always comes first in mind when the word “traveling” comes up. But eff it, you’re young and this is the period where you have the least amount of financial liabilities. Save up a little by little and know how to be frugal when you travel. I’ve taken free sugar cubes made for coffee to be used for cooking, I’ve learned to take advantage of every kitchen I’ve been to and their ingredients, I’ve lied about my age in order to get a cheaper price on museums, I’ve conquered different maps, roads, and transportation systems, I’ve adjusted to different homes, languages and customs. Just take every opportunity you can, y’all can work for the rest of yo life.

The Forsaken: A Rising Number of Homeless Gay Teens Are Being Cast Out by Religious Families

This is definitely a huge problem that I didn’t even know existed in the LGBTQIA community. About 40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQIA. I know this article is a bit long to read, but definitely worth your time.  Same-sex marriage rights is only the beginning to what needs to be changed.
